The Logic of Rage
Anger and rage are emotions that we often think as only negative emotions that we should silence and completely cut off from our experience and emotional language. Yet, anger and rage, like all emotions— negative or otherwise,— have their function and use. Check out this episode from the wonderful and amazing podcast The Hidden Brain on the logic of rage. This episode is less focused on therapy and more focused on neuroscience. That said, anger has its place in our lives, and can be both worked through and given healthy space in psychotherapy.
The Science of Forgiveness
Check out this article by Dr. Santos on the science of forgiveness. It’s a nice, easy-to-digest piece about forgiveness. Much more can and has been said about forgiveness, but this is a great little thought piece about the concept and how it manifests in our lives. Forgiveness comes up a lot in therapy, and especially in couples therapy. I see this come up quite often, and I have seen how hard it is for patients to forgive either others or themselves. And this is a common aspect of the couples therapy that I do. And I will say— forgiveness is more of an art than actual science.
Causal or Creativity

Depression as a Protector
When thinking about depression, we often jump to its negative and destructive attributes. Yet, it is my belief that there are positive aspects of depression that are overlooked when examining the topic. And while I am not here to make the case that depression is a phenomenon we should wholly embrace and make a regular part of our lives-- I do think it is important to look at as many sides and angles as possible in everything and every situation. The purpose of this blog post is not to make an argument in favor of depression, but see it in a new light. My hope is that, maybe through this exploration, you might gain a new perspective or understanding about depression, either in your own life or in the lives of those closest to you. Perhaps, it may even increase your empathy towards those who live with this experience on the regular, to whom which you may not relate to.
