Psychodynamic Tehcniques by Karen Maroda: A Book Review

Psychodynamic Techniques: Working with emotion in the Therapeutic Relationship   by Karen Maroda

For grad students and new therapists, this book by Karen Maroda is vital if you wish to learn how to implement techniques from a psychodynamic perspective.  This is a more pragmatic look at how to approach therapy with patients and how to use different techniques for working with emotions and affect.  Most of the techniques are still open to creative use and individualization, but are shown in how they cn be used to help assist a patient.  This is also a great reference for those who just want or need a refresher or are feeling stuck and need some ideas on how to get unstuck.
