Anxiety

The demands of the modern world can be crushing and never-ending.  Between work, school, relationships, and all the rest-- it often starts to feel like the grand Sissphysian task of our lives, just to try and keep up with the ever-expanding list of things to do.  Rare is it to ever be caught up, and all too common is the experience of always being behind.  Aside from the overwhelming demands of existence-- we also have the uncertainty, ambiguity and fragility of our own existence and future continually tugging at the back of our mind. The ambiguity and uncertainty of the future, is the terrible truth we must live with each and every day.

Whether anxiety manifests in a more general manner, or in an acute one-- anxiety is fundamental to being human.  Though it may not serve us in ways we can appreciate easily, anxiety does not have to rule or lord over us.  Anxiety, like all emotions, is a teacher and guide.  We merely need to listen to, and understand our anxiety, in order to discern its lessons for ourselves.
